Today, DFPI Commissioner (and double Bear) Cloey Hewlett joined the Consumer Advocacy & Protection Society (CAPS) and Law Students of African Descent (LSAD) for a conversation about the work her department is doing to protect low-income consumers in California, her personal experience with poverty and the civil rights movement and how that has shaped her career, and the challenges consumer protection advocates may face in the coming years. (The session also included a brief intermission for the concession speech of the Commissioner’s friend and former SFDA colleague.) Thank you, Commissioner Hewlett, for your ongoing inspiration and support for students, for the Center, and for all Californians.
